17 Apr 2008 // Currently Mixing 'Demonic Art' & Stefan Rosqvist's Solo Album!

Hey there!

I'm currently in the studio mixing the new Darkane CD named 'Demonic art'. I spent the whole first day experimenting with the bass drum and snare drum. There are so many possibilities when mixing in a computer that one needs to set limits for how many things to try. I'm very bad at keeping within those limits. ;-) I think the production will sound great because what we have recorded sounds good. Also, I have to say that I'm very happy with the final outcome of the songs with vocals, and I think this will be a very solid CD.

Besides the Darkane recording I've also been busy mixing Stefan Rosqvist's first solo CD together with Stefan. He's a good friend of mine and a great guitar player. The album is titled 'The Guitar Diaries' and is an instrumental CD with lots of different moods and song styles. It ranges from more hard rock influenced tracks to very soft ones with trio setup (guitar, upright bass and drums). It would be wrong to say that the "softer" songs are jazzy since they're not in swing beat or anything, but they do have that loose attitude and sound. Chistofer (Darkane) is also featured on two songs and his guitar playing is nothing but fantastic on these songs! Personally, I am very happy with my drumming that sees me playing a big variety of styles. Stefan worked closely with Darkane on 'Layers of Lies' where he did a lot of the drum tracking and created all the sample and synth sounds. He's currently working with the samples/synths for our upcoming CD too.

You'll find more information about Stefan's 'The Guitar Diaries' and pre order here: www.liquidnoterecords.co.uk/news.html

Cheers!
Peter

14 Mar 2008 // Latest Studio Video From Darkane.com!

Hey there metal headz!

Here is the second video blog from the studio. This video features setting up the drums, tuning, putting mics on the kit and me jamming on the drums. This means a lot of true drum nerd stuff! As you might notice we'll be trying to put up this video blog quite frequently and the next one will feature me recording the drums. So until then, enjoy this in-depth drum video.

As reported at Darkane.com we have entered the studio to record our fifth album. Pre-production began on Monday the 18th of February and a lot has happened since then.

Last week I completed drum recordings for 14 tracks. We have also been filming the recording process as part of a video studio diary to go along with our recording blog. You can view the first installment by following the link below. Be sure to check back here and on Darkane.com for future installments and more information about the new album!

26 Jan 2008 // New Years Update!

I am currently mixing the final touches to the Darkane DVD and it sounds great. I think we were really able to capture the feel of the performances. Hopefully we'll be done next week. Fingers crossed!

I'm also practicing a lot since we will start recording drums for the new Darkane CD in three weeks!!! I am working especially hard to make sure that the drum parts will shred!

Last but not least, I will be recording with the mighty Pestilence on their upcoming release. More on that coming later so keep an eye out.

Cheers
Peter

13 Sep 2007 // Finally new news!

Hey there. I'm sorry for the lack of updates, been very busy.

I am happy to say that the interview that www.sickdrummer.com did with me is up now. I think it's an informative interview. You can reach it here: Sick Drummer.com.

Also make sure to register at sickdrummer.com and listen to the Pod cast interview with Sean Reinert.

In July we finally finished the mix of Soilwork's new CD 'Sworn to a great divide'. It took about one more month of work then planned. I think it turned out very well with a quite raw production. Right now Klas (Darkane) and I are working on the Swedish metal band Construcdead's new CD. If things go as planned (which they never do) we will be finished in about two or three weeks.

After the Construcdead CD will be finished we'll start working on the mix of the upcoming Darkane DVD. I just hope the DVD will be released early next year.

I also need to mix Stefan Rosqvist's debut solo CD together with Stefan. I'm looking forward to releasing that CD a lot. It will be the first time I will play on a CD that is not metal with lots of improvised drumming. It features me performing everything from loose "jazzy" drumming to more rock orientated material. I guess a lot of people will be surprised!

Late this year Lalle Larsson will release his 'Seven deadly pieces' DVD. The DVD will cover most of Lalle's work over the years. The "main concert" where 'Seven deadly pieces' is performed live features me on drums. If you go to the video section here on my site you will find two videos from that concert.

Carl Johan Grimmark's (of Narnia) first solo release is just released. I'm drumming on that one as well. It's released on a small record label so I don't know how easy it is to get hold of it. It's a kind of heavy hard rock. You can visit Carl Johan's myspace site here with plenty of samples: www.myspace.com/grimmark.

This coming winter we will start recording Darkane's fifth record. We have about nine songs ready. We were hoping to enter the studio earlier but in typical Darkane bad luck, our studio got flooded and badly damaged. So now we're looking for a new location for the studio and as soon as we find that we need to rebuild the studio which takes a lot of time. Hopefully we will start recording around Christmas (fingers crossed).

Stay metal
Peter

29 May 2007 // My first news post.

Hey there!

Finally the site is up and running and I'm soo happy with how it turned out. First of all I would like to thank Adam "Webmaster" Block a million times! He's the one that pushed me to collect the necessary info for the site etc. Without him I would never made this site come true, THANKS!!!

Currently Klas (Darkane) and I are working day and night mixing the new Soilwork CD. They have recorded everything (except vocals) in Darkane's studio 'Not Quite Studio'. It will be a killer CD with lots of great songs.

At the moment I don't have a lot of time to play the drums but as soon as the Soilwork CD is done I will have a holiday and get time to practice. Got a few cool projects coming up after the summer.

We're almost done with the Darkane DVD that we've been working on for a long time. We still need to mix the sound for the main live show which will be done after the Soilwork mix. Well, I guess that holiday will be postponed until after the mixing of the DVD. The Darkane DVD will include four hours of footage. One hour main concert shot in Helsingborg with eight cameras and lots of other stuff from the studio recordings and tours.

Stefan Rosqvist's debut CD will also be finished this summer. Hmmm, that mix will be done after Darkane DVD mix. I guess there will be no holiday! I play drums on Stefan's CD and it features more of a fusion/light playing style of drumming. Actually the songs range from soft trio to more hard rock songs. In the video section you can see a short clip from one of the songs 'Decisions'.

I also hope to keep this site updated as often as possible. Most of the time I have soo much to do but I'll do my very best. My intention is also to put up more lessons/tips with cool stuff that I think would be great to share. I hope to put up my warm up routines soon.

Hope you like the site and if you have any questions go to the lessons/tips section and send the webmaster a mail.

Cheers
Peter
